WHO AM I?
I am a writer, filmmaker, and performer based in Los Angeles. As a gay city-dweller who spent his formative years in the Bible Belt, my work focuses on the overlooked intricacies of the queer coming-of-age experience. It often attempts to boldly marry Southern Baptist spirituality with radical queer ideology. (All while being laugh out loud hilarious, of course.)
THROUPLE
Most recently, my feature film THROUPLE (directed by Greyson Horst) was selected for both the Tribeca Creators Market and onto the NYU Production Lab Slate. THROUPLE is currently being submitted for the 2024 festival circuit. Follow its journey over on Instagram.
RONITA RAMBO
My follow-up feature film RONITA RAMBO is currently in development. If THROUPLE was my New York story, RONITA RAMBO finds me headed home, setting a new radical love story in the Evangelical south.
The script for RONITA RAMBO found semi-finalist status in the esteemed 2023 Academy Awards Nicholl Fellowship (one of only 150 scripts out of 5,599). It also advanced in the Sundance Feature Film Program Development Track.
PERFORMANCES
THROUPLE is set in the world of the underground Brooklyn music scene, because that was home for the entirety of my 20s. You can watch my band Darlin!’s music video for “Breathe” here.
I have also written and performed sold-out and acclaimed solo cabarets for Fringe Festivals in both New York City and Prague. My most recent solo show “Music! or, Another Gay Gives Up His Dream of Becoming a Popstar” premiered at the PIT’s 2023 SoloCom Festival to a sold-out crowd.

The Arkansas Times reviews my music video for “Way With Words,” a mashup of the drag bar and the Baptist church, shot in Little Rock, Arkansas. They call it “a “sultry, glittering mashup of two of the places [Doshier] considers most holy.”

Theatre Is Easy reviews my New York Fringe Festival show, “Johnny Darlin: In the Closet,” a pop music extravaganza celebrating interwoven stories of queer people coming into their own.
OTHER NOTABLE RECOGNITION
In 2023, my half-hour comedic pilot MUSIC! (an adaptation of my solo show) was one of the three winners of the Bad Pitch Group Labs Pilotpalooza competition. As such, it received a staged reading at The Hudson Theatre in Hollywood.
In 2018, my feature script BRANSON won the Missouri Stories Competition, a fellowship run by the Missouri Film Office to find and foster the best stories set within the state.
In 2013, I earned the Venable Herndon Award for Excellence in Screenwriting at NYU Tisch for my feature script MISTER SISTER.
